I think $8500 is to much. I would try to get them down to $8000 out the door or walk away. I just bought a 2005 in very good shape with 2600 miles for $10000 OTD. A 2000 deuce is 5 years older. Be patient and you will get your price.

Thanks everyone. I decided to wait. I like the bike, but it didn't feel like "the one". I'll just keep watching and see what I find.

Buy a train over a deuce?? I like trains, but they don't even compare. Deuce is chromed out awesome, train is blacked out ugly... Like I said trains are nice but I would never own one. So go with a deuce. Or even a custom, atleast it has some chrome like the deuce you originally looked at... Good luck

Btw, look for an 07 deuce. Rare, only deuce with the 96 and six speed...

i had an 01 deuce and i really liked it dont get me wrong, but i wanted something i could customize and make my own! the deuce is limited to what you can do with it! i just bought a fatboy around a month ago and i love it and the customization options are just about endless! thats my 2 cents! good luck with your purchase and always consider the FL series!

Another thing to consider is that around 30K miles the twin cam chains & tension-ers begin to fail. They fail slowly with some slight noise, all the while spreading teflon flakes thought the oil pump and the rest of the motor.

Another thing to consider is that there is not as much Deuce stuff out there if you want to change it up. Where as, take a softail standard, add blacked out motor stuff..its a nightrain, add a springer and well, or add FL stuff to make a heritage or fat boy.

I found a wrecked one (thats what I do on the side, save wrecked bikes) its a 2000 or 01. The price is WAY right, but, the market to sell it is narrow-er than for say a Nightrain or Standard or Custom.

If I can put the '06 and later bob tail fender on it, I could live with the stretched tank...but, that's me.
