I am starting to look for my first Harley (not bike, just Harley). The Deuce has caught my eye. Why do I see so few in cycle trader while there are many dynas? Why do I see so few Deuces on the road? When will I find the best price 2000-2006 on amodel?
Thats exactly why I decided to buy mine..........I had made my mind up to buy a Screamin Eagle model, and was sort of leaning toward the SE Fat-Boy, but there was just too many Fat-Boys in general out there on the road, and I already have a 04 Fat-Boy myself. About that time I started looking a bit harder at the Deuces, and I found a very good deal on a 03 Gold Centennial FXSTD-SE with just over 4K on the clock.....I love it....I get tons of compliments on it from other bikers....it handles fantastic, goes like a bat out of hell, and still has plenty of comfort for longer rides.
Its hard to say when you will get the best price, but in general, it ain't in mid-Summer.....just keep a close eye on all the H-D for sale sites and you will find exactly what your looking for!
Yes, I too like the look of the Deuce. Get lots of looks, and still love it. I liked it so much, when I traded it in on my new one. I baught my old one back!
I love my Deuce. I hardly ever see them on the road. However, I rarely see them on the showroom floor either. So that means people are buying them up. You would be surprised how many people ask me what kind of bike mine is. This weekend a guy asked me, "what was that originally?" I thought he was talking about my paint job so I responded, "It was black before I had it painted." He said, "No. I mean what kind of bike is that? Was that a Fatboy?" I was nice and told him it was a Deuce. He came over to look at the bike and admire it. The Deuce gets lots of looks. If you get one, you won't regret it.
I traded my 05 deuce in for my ultra, got 12,500 for it. course the dealer is going to make a bit by raising the resale, but hey its a business. good for them. the deuce is a fine ride.
I agree with everyone, I bought mine because it was the bike I always wanted. I was pleasantly suprised at how much people go out of their way to ask me about it and compliment it. It gets looks everywhere I go and it's just your typical factory deuce with a few bolt on's.
I also think the reason you see so few is because they don't make as many (none now) as other softails and I honestly think once you buy one you keep it just like f2titan lol.
I get a lot of people asking how much I have in it for the extra chrome. I usually just smile and say, enough.... The other thing I get a lot is people think the rear wheel is custom.
For me it's the one I always wanted and finally got, just in time for them to be discontinued. Doesn't bother me one bit. Just makes it that much more unique.
See plenty on the roads and at the rallies but I think it depends on your location. None at the dealer is no surprise, I think they only get a few, but they sell fast!! Love mine
