i just got a 08 crossbones , it has a corbin gambler seat and some other stuff . i need to add a passenger back rest so my 10 year old can ride with me. so i have been looking at the parts needed to put togeather a sissy bar and it looks like that the older year, narrow tire model sissy bar will fit with the newer style detachable side plates [the bike came with detachable hardware and saddle bags]. i dont care if the parts are black or not, looking for the best bang for the buck with safety in mind . thanks.
I'm sorry bud, but I'm having trouble understanding if there's a question here.
Reading over what you posted, I was wondering why you would want to put a "narrow tire model sissy bar" on you Crossbones since your bike has a 200mm rear end and would be too wide? Are you talking about the type of sissy bar that you have to attach to side plates that then attach to the bike? If so, you can use narrow or wide sissy bars with the same type of plates but that doesn't mean that the set up will fit both a wide or narrow rear end. What determines what will fit your bike is the width of the sissy bar and not necessarily the side plates. Maybe if you post part numbers for the parts you want to use and we can help you determine if they will work on your bike.
