Boom audio installation
Ok guys, bear with me, it's my first time doing a install play-by-play. And sorry about the bad cellphone pics.
So here we go with the windshield mount speakers/amp set.
Mounting bracket for the amp was done first. You have to mount the amp to the bracket, then fight to get the bolt into the top crashbar mount hole.
Next is the fun part. It says to take the tank off, but I didn't want the mess, so I took off the seat, loosened the tank, and fished a wire through from the front of the bike back. I then taped the power wires to it, and pulled it through.
I left that for a while and went to work on the handlebar control. That part is pretty straight forward, but make sure you have the wire for the switches on the inside of the bracket like in the pic, then mount the controls to the bracket.
Now time for wiring the whole thing. For this part I through the directions out. Number one: orange/white aux power wire. On the right side of the bike, in the back right side under the seat there is a harness that goes back to the tail lights. Cut the cover off it and find the orange/white wire. Cut wire. Splice the wires back together with your new wire from the amp, and heat shrink it. Next, splice the fused link from the kit to the red wire from the amp, and I just put a end on it to go right onto the battery terminal. Put another end on the black wire from the amp to bolt on to ground.

The next part took a while to figure out. How to hide the leftover wire between the amp and control wires. I tried to stuff it all under the tank, but that was a no-go, so I pulled the console off, and put them under there. Make sure you leave the harness sticking out enough to plug into the harness coming down from the speakers. All that's left now is to zip-tie the wires to keep them clean looking. From the controls down, I just ties them to the wiring already coming down from your upper controls, and one zip-tie around the downtube for the wire coming out of the amp.
I wont go through installing the speakers, as they are just a bolt-on item.
Last step, plug the speakers into the amp/control wires, plug in a mp3 player, hit power, hit play!
I just bought a iPod shuffle with the little clip on the back. I need a shorter wire to attache it to the speakers, but all i did was just clip it right onto the throttle cable. It seems to stay in place perfect, and the thing is TINY.
My first rip up the road with it seemed promising. At 120km/h I could still hear enough to sing along (scary thought) with all the songs. Keep in mind I have V&H BSL and I can hardly hear myself thing over the noise off them. Over all, it's worth getting if you want some tunes, hurts the looks, but not to bad, so I have to say I'm pretty happy.
