Default Arc Audio 125.2 installation help

Hey guys,
I am really new to this so bare with me...I am looking to install my arc 125.2 on my stock HK unit with Hertz speakers. I bought the wiring kit from ARC but it didn't come with instructions...
1) the power cable- do I take the fuse out when hooking it up?
2) On a street glide do you ground to the screw that's in the triple tree? or whatever it's called
3) the orange cable for the remote switch...where does it go and how do you hook it up?

thanks,
as I said I am pretty new to this whole wiring thing.
If I was to go aftermarket stereo what hook ups would need to change?

Yes.. Take the fuse out of the amp and also the one out of the main power wire. You will re-install the fuses as the last step. You should be able to route this wire to the battery under the gas tank with little effort.

You can indeed use the "triple tree" screw for a grounding point. Or you may also use one of the fairing mount bracket screws. Use a small file or wire brush to clean the area around the screw hole of paint etc. After installing a ring terminal on the ground wire, and screwing it back down, put just a LITTLE silcone sealant around the terminal and area to prevent rust.

The easiest place to connect the orange "turn on" wire is to the center of the cigarette lighter. You can either use a blue "scotchlock" splice connector, or as I would reccomend, solder the wire dircectly to the power wire. The orange wire to the amp only draws a little less than 1/2amp. Soo, It's not going to have alot of power draw on it. Either way, make sure you seal it goood with some good electrical tape, or heat shrink tubing.

THAT should get you in business after you have connected the speakers and the input wires. DONT forget the fuses!lol

Now, if you DO replace the H/K unit with an aftermarket one, I would get one the the RCA or line level outputs. Most decent units will have these. You will also need a short cable to connect the two.

Hope that helps.. Now Rock On!

You don't need to connect the remote wire if you are using speaker level inputs to the amp. The Arc 125.2 has an "auto sense" switch that, when in the "on" position, will sense the audio signal received via the speaker level inputs and turn on the amp. In that configuration, the remote wire becomes a "live" 12V supply to, for example, turn on another amp. If you are using the RCA amp inputs, the auto sense feature doesn't work.

Take a look at the Arc 125.2 instructions:

http://www.arcaudio.com/product-pdf/miniv2.pdf

Also, be sure the speaker level/RCA switch is set correctly depending on whether you are using speaker level or RCA inputs to the amp. The switch was in the RCA position when I did the install on my bike using the speaker level inputs and when I tested the amp, I had no sound--took me a while to figure out the "no sound" was due to the switch being in the RCA position and everything was good once it was set to the speaker level input position.

The power/ground harness supplied with the Arc install kit is long enough to reach the ground studs under the seat. I used one of the ground studs when I installed the 125.2 in my bike and it worked fine. I used the ground screw when I installed the Rockford Fosgate amp and it works fine, but the ground studs under the seat are much more accessible.

Good luck with your installation.

Carl

Not sure where the ground studs under the seat are?
I am going to look for a set of instructions online.
One more question...out of the back of the amp there is a black plug with five skinny wires coming out. I think some are gray. What are these for?
Not sure where the ground studs under the seat are? Just follow the battery ground cable and you'll see them.

One more question...out of the back of the amp there is a black plug with five skinny wires coming out. I think some are gray. What are these for? Those are the speaker level inputs; connect your speaker wires to four of them; there is one black one IIRC which is for a ground wire--not sure if it's necessary to use that speaker ground wire.
As uncertain as you appear to be about what you're doing with respect to the wiring, why not give Arc a call Monday for personal attention and have all your questions answered? I've found their customer service to be first rate.
