It's a common problem on the rocker. Had it happen twice, both times the right side. I now run Headwinds lights and just sold my stock lights to a buddy who had the same problem. He was quoted $260 for a new one though. I've been told Harley has other bikes with LED tails with similar problems. I think the connections in the light become suspect as I was able to tap mine both times it happened to get them to work.
problem solved
Thanks for the alternative! I was hoping someone would chime in who had experience with this.
I still have LED lights. You don't want to use regular bulbs as the resistance is different. May cause issues. The reason for the ridiculous cost is the housings are made out of magnesium, to keep weight down I imagine.

Do the lights you have still function as turn/stop/signal lamps?
And are they available in black/non chrome finish?
i'm still tryin to navigate headwinds page....
edit: nevermind, figured it out......
edit again: the f@cking ridiculous price kinda makes me wanna burn these things out and have them install about 1 a month til my warranty runs out.
won't do it though.......gotta be bad karma
Thanks for the heads up on that lazy! I think i'll get my warranty replacement from harley then put them on the shelf for spares and run the headwinds
You have to get a load equalizer. I used Badlands Illuminator PN: ILL-01-ROC. Most aftermarket lights are 2 function, but this will make them 3 function. Very easy to follow instructions. I believe they do make lights in black. Mine are Rocket Mariah I believe. Keep in mind that the stock tail lights have a locator notch which means there is a second hole in the fender. I chopped my fender and welded up the second hole at the same time.
There's plenty of tail lights out there that would look good. Heartland, Custom Dynamics and others make good looking lights also. I have to say the look and quality of Headwinds is second to none imho.
Your best bet is to just get it changed right now anyway, since it's still under warranty, and then you'll have time to figure out everything for custom lights, if that is what you want to do. I figured if it happened twice, why keep jacking around with it. Plus I wasn't really big on the stock lights, all my lights are Headwinds. Not cheap, but I like it!
Also keep in mind ebay can net killer deals. My headlight goes for over 400 but I got it new for just over 100. Patience and right place/time helps though. LOL!

Damn ... glad I went for the Lo ... I sat on both of them .. Rocker and a Lo and the Lo fit my neanderthal body better than the Rocker ... "magenesium" light housings ... holy shtt batman ... that is one pile of horse poop!
guys, i am confused. my 08 Rocker C has plain old 1157 bulbs in the turn signal/brake lights. i did not get the bike new, but bought it from a guy who had it only 3 months.
i was going to suggest changing the led bulbs using things from superbriteleds.com. i totally reworked the signal lights on my restored 1974-cb-750 honda, to use a 1.5/1.5 square led segment.
help me understand the lights. i am going to take the cover off one of the lights and check it out. maybe you are correct, wondering now.
thanks
