Is there an easy way to tell if an engine has been upgraded?
I took my fathers 06 deluxe out for a spin and he took my train, his bike felt extremly slow compared to mine, i thought maybe just because his is an 88" and min a 96 with what i thought was just a stage 1, then i swaped bikes with a buddy of mine and he has an 08 street bob with a stage 1 and it felt really sluggish compared to mine all the way through all gears, he said mines crazy fast compared to his, is there a chance that mine has been built to a 103" or maybr cams? i dont know the original owner but should there be that much difference between bikes?
If there wasn't a big difference, what would be the point of spending that much money? My Bones feels powerful but not something that has a WOW factor. I've ridden many bikes over the years and this is the 6th I have owned. It's fast, but not WOW.
or ask a dealer to run your VIN#, if the upgrade was done by a dealer it should be on record.
mine is noticably harder on fuel than my fathers but i do ride it a bit harder too, ill call a few dealers today because im in Canada and i bought the bike in the states, i tried to run the vin up here and they said they wont be able to pull any info because its an american bike

There's your difference right there... we Americans do tend to be faster!!! LOL

I called the dealer in and got them to run the VIN, he said they have no record of doing the 103" kit but but he said when itn was bought it had the stage 1 done, pipes, air cleaner and factory down load, then he said at the 1000mile service there were a "bunch of parts bought" and a SERT and a dyno tune, he couldnt tell me what was bought or if they did the work but said they did the dyno tune but didnt have the dyno numbers,
