Heritage Soft Bags
So, I bought my new to me 04 Heritage in the middle of the winter. It is in excellent shape except for the bags. I am just beginning to condition and shape the bags. I cannot yet get the tops snapped, but am getting closer. I hope as the leather softens up a bit, I will be able to stretch it enough to get them snapped. Once snapped, I intend to make a "skeleton" to insert inside each bag, something like a metal tubing rack for the sides. My wife is an upholsterer and says she can manage to put an insert in the top made of very stiff leather, almost like a sole of a shoe.
I will just keep rubbin in the conditioner and polishing up the bags until they loosen up. If anyone has any ideas for either loosening up the leather (using lexol now) or the insert, please let me know.
