# on engine

I bought a 2003 softail with a 1340 and don't know the year of the engine. # are brlj022464. Someone can tell me what's it ? Thanks.

It must be a custom build, not a Harley. The last 1340 in the Harley was the 1999 Softail family.

I think it's a 87. On the right i can see 87 in a circle?

I would suspect that your engine # is actually BKLJ022464. An R indicates a racing engine and there is no record of a racing engine with that number.

If it is actually a "K" in the #, it is a 1988 1340cc Evo out of a Softail Custom originally sold in Canada.
