Read this for some insight also. When I used the "stick" method, I was sitting on my bike in riding position with my eyes closed. Did the measurements a few different times at different time of the day. I then used an average of all the measurements to order my bars to my specs.
I am wondering the same thing about my evil apes thhat I never saw yet because I'm away at work but I'm hoping my wrists don't have to bend to hold the grips, I've broken both of them a few times and I really hope they feel right

+1 I ordered new apes from BR and I ended up with 14'' with 1.5'' risers and I believe a 5 inch pull back which is pretty standard. Never had apes before so we'll see how I like them in the next 2-3 weeks when they get here.
members of this forum have every known ape hanger made it seems. views of pictures leave some questions. I am still mulling the possibility of ape hangers on my bike. other than a few sesmoid bones and 5th metacarpal fractures (I have one too), people's hand/wrist/forearm anatomy is essentially the same. I see apehangers with grip positions in any number of orientations, some even turn UP. I want grips in anatomically neutral position...in fact my drag bars would be perfect if they were 12 inches or so taller...but that would look silly . I know, picky picky....but please some feedback on who has apes with grip position about 10 degrees back and 15-20 degrees down (with the apes mounted in a generally perpendicular to the ground orientation). thanks as always.
im a huge fan of drag bars and i even had BR Customs make me a custom set of t-bars for my nitetrain. They came out killer. Ive had apes on my deluxe in the past.
I have Yaffe OEM apes on my roadglide. to me they are almost similar to drag bars. they are 10" tall, 33" wide, 6 inch pullback.
I've wondered about the "control feel" with apes. I grew up on dirt bikes thus my comfort with the drag bar concept...they're just a bit too low now that I got a new seat that raised me a couple of inches...probably go back to dr v twins suggestion of 2 inch riser extensions and keep my bars.
