hello , I am trying to move the tag down on my deluxe I have the soft brake set up , but cant seem to get at the nuts on the back , thinking of taking off rear wheel any thoughts please I have been trying a small deep socket !!! thanks ...Kerri
When I did my setup, I aired up my rear end (shotgun air shock) and if I remember correctly I just reached underneath the fender with the correct sized wrench and loosened, then tightened back up. I didn't remove my rear tire or put it up on a lift.
Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I'm thinking about doing the softbrake tombstone and plate relocation to below the light, but the only pics I can find are of solo setups with no luggage rack (ok, actually there's one with a 2-up seat on it). I'd really like to get a better idea of how it will look on my bike before I order the stuff.
Do any of you guys either have, or can point me to, pics of how the setup looks with a 2-up seat, luggage rack and backrest installed?
Trying to get my ducks in a row to order this stuff - anyone know if there's a bolt-on solution to get a curved plate mount with the softbrake setup? It doesn't look like the softbrake relocator plate would be cooperative if I tried to put a smooth curve in it.
I've seen Kuryakyn's curved plate mount, but for simple bolt on that appears to need their rear turn signal bar as well.
In the absence of a curved plate mount that works with the softbrake setup, is there a way to do a side mount (swingarm) plate that would work with the HD leather wrapped bags?
I have the above the light plate from HD. Like it a lot and I do a two up seat from time to time. Heres a pic.
Thanks! I'm familiar with that curved mount, but my primary goal is to relocate the plate. First choice is below the turn signal bar, using the Softbrake kit. But I'd like to have a contoured, rather than flat, plate bracket there.
I've seen some pics with the setup I want, but none of them included info about how they were done. I've been hunting around a bit, so I'm guessing they are custom fab jobs since I can't find bolt on parts in the usual places that accomplish it.
Finally managed to get all my parts and pieces collected, and get my Softbrake kit installed. I'm definitely happy with the change. Thanks to all who posted here with tips and tricks, they all helped. I ended up doing the work with the bike on a lift, with the fender and rear wheel still installed. Only time this really presented a minor issue was one of the upper nuts holding the taillight housing was partially seized up, so it took a lot of patience to get it out a 1/8 turn at a time.
This is my setup, with all Custom Dynamics LEDs in the rear - Bullet Ringz in the turns, LED tombstone board, and low profile LED license frame.
