Default Waxing Chrome??

Hi All,
Asked this question in the detailing forum and received a few replys but would appreciate more. I just picked up my 2011 Fatboy and was wondering how to keep the chrome looking new. I'm planning on waxing the chrome that stays cool but am not sure what to put on the chrome that gets hot, like the exhaust and engine cases. I don't want the heat burning anything off and leaving a residue and I also don't want anything abrasive because the chrome is new. Thanks!!

I usually pick up some metal/chrome polish at bike shows. Stuff works amazing. You can get a sealer for it as well so one polish will shine for like a year with spraying it off with water

I use pure carnuba wax on my chrome including the exhaust, never had any residue of any kind on my bike. You got the right idea, chrome can get surface rust if you are in a humid area. I also use a liquid wax occasionally and spray entire bike down with it to get at spots you cannot reach with your hands. I use cheater wax, the same stuff they use at your local car wash, only mixed up stronger.

I use a product called Busch super shine alum polish. It puts a film on it even the pipes does not brun off and if the passenger puts shoes or boots on the pipes it comes right off no matter how melted. It is for big trucks so you can find it at truck stops.

I use Masters Formula. First I use the Cleaner Polish, then follow that up with the Sealer Gloss. I use it on ALL chrome, and on polished Aluminum. Once done, the sealer will protect the chrome for months. I normally apply three times a season. When I first get the bikes ready for the season (full detail of bikes) about middle season and once again at the end of the season before putting them away. Product is very easy to use, and works like a dream. Take a drop of the cleaner, apply it to the bottom of a soda can, and in about 3 seconds, you have a mirror. Do the same with the sealer, and water beads up and slides all over the place.

I have used this stuff for about 5 years now, and hope they never stop making it. A bottle of each will last a few years, and thats doing 2 bikes, one of those is a chrome hog (wife's Deluxe)
