I'm about your height and I have 14's on mine. The 16's would have been alright, but the 14's keep my hands at about shoulder level and that's comfortable for me.

I have sat on a couple bikes with apes. I am 5'9" and 14's feel great. 16's would be cool, but I think after awhile riding I might get uncomfortable. I will be ordering my 14's soon.
