My bike an '06 NT is at my local indy and he is trying to get an '09 X bones wheel on it. I bought the wheel installation kit so the bearings are for the 3/4 inch axle. His problem is the offset of the pulley. He's saying that it won't line up right and the belt is hitting the tire?
Is the pulley from my NT different than the X bones? is that the problem or is it something else?
He has the rear wheel off right now so if someone can help quickly it would be greatly appreciated.
Whoever said that the cross bones wheel swap was easy and a straight swap obviously never tried it.
Thanks for the help.

They should have different width belts. So I would say yeah, the pulleys are different. But I could be wrong. The 06 should have a wider belt. I was told that going to the narrower belts on later models helped the MOCO go with wider tires. Any other issues I am not sure of.

the crossbones if i'm not mistaken comes with a 200mm wide tire in the back, the nighttrains i believe were a 160 or 180 (someone correct me).. long story short, my dad has a 180 on his train, i have a 200 on my fatboy, my belt is a few milimeters narrower than his, so yes, the pulley's are different as are the belt widths.
I think that the belts are the same size. I have the 200 MM tire as well.
At this point I think that the only options I have for making this wheel work is:
1) having the wheel re-laced with a '06 hub or
2) using a cross bones pulley
06 was a one year deal...200 tire with 3/4 bearings...if your indy was worth his salt...he would measure how much the pulley needs to be spaced out and order a pulley spacer here. http://vulcanworks.net/store_4/home.php?cat=2
