see if you can borrow the parts before you buy them
Boy, that'd be nice ! You're right assuming it's a tough market for anything up here.....used parts are extremely rare--no bike salvage places here.

Speaking of which--if ANYONE know of a good Harley salvage place in the lower 48 I can mail-order from, I'm all ears (and eyes) !

After running the VIN, I'm told by the dealer---who made these mods one of their showroom models originally to the owner (including the Bub pipes) that no programming chanes were made to the ECM and it's stock config. Runs just fine with that.

Well, I've got a real good handle on what's going on now.
Last night, removed the IAC--the threaded pintle FELL OUT as I was removing the IAC! That's not supposed to be loose--the assembly is toast--looks like heat cycles did it in and the ceramic sleeve the pintle shaft slides in was all chewed up. This could have something to do with its inability to park and stop running after shutdown---now I'm thinking there's an internal rotary that cycles into a detent/off position until the next ignition-on signal arrives. Got another IAC on the way.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on developments!

Hope you got it nailed with a faulty AIC and hope you're back on the road soon.

Default IAC issues

Hello,

Did you ever resolve the IAC sensor that keeps running with the engine off. I have 2001 fatboy with the same condition. I replaced the system and starter relay without any luck. The IAC continues to run unless I pull the ECM fuse. I would really appreciate knowing if replacing the IAC motor fixed the problem. My email address is anthony.russo@shearman.com. Thanks, Anthony

You have a Corvette Engine Computer wired to an early Porsche fuel Injection System . . . and you have the temerity to even begin to wonder why you have problems?

You can't be serious! You probably also ponder questions like; why apples don't grow correctly on an orange tree, just because apple trees and orange trees are both trees?

GOOD GRIEF!

Replace the IAC. All it takes is a little crud in the throttle body to stick the plunger into the port, and the IAC will start to unscrew itself. Once that happens, there isnt any stopping it. If the IAC is unable to give the feedback the ECM is looking for, the ECM will continue to cycle the IAC until it does.

Just watch out when you remove the 2 screws and go to pull the IAC out. If the plunger is still attached, it wont be long before the plunger detaches and shoots across the garage. If you have your bike parked next to a car with nice paint, expect some touch-up work. Dont ask me how I know that.

Default IAC to be replaced

I ordered a new IAC motor. It will be a week for delivery. Hopefully, this resolves my problem with the IAC cycling while the engine is off. Thanks and I'll keep you posted.
