Installed HD Flush mount gas gauge and filler cap on my '06 Deuce!
I installed these last weekend, I love the smooth looks of it!
The package says "except FXSTD" on it, and the only reason it says that, is because the trim ring for the gas cap doesnt fit the contours of the deuce tank properly.
that issue was solved with a heat gun, I carefully heated the trim ring and bent it to fit my tank.
it fits perfectly flush now.[8D]

Nice job, looks really cool. I read in other posts where people have problems with the low fuel warning light in the speedo after installing this kit, did you have any? Any tips for install, did you remove the tank or just tilt/slide it?

Thanks,
Instead of cutting the yellow/white wire, I soldered a diode inline with the grey wire, and spliced it into the yellow/white wire.
so now I have both the low fuel light in the speedo and on the LED gauge working normally.
I didn't have to move the tank, just reached under to unplug the fuel gauge connector.

What type diode did you use, or was it something you just had laying around, and which way did you set it up?

just a generic glass diode that I had lying around. they are available at any radio shack for under a buck.
the diode was installed so that the cathode was connected to the yellow/white wire and the anode to the grey wire.
with the diode installed this way the LED fuel gauge can get the low fuel warning signal but won't backfeed voltage to the low fuel light in the speedometer.

I can handle that, I probably have a dozen or so laying around here that should work.
Now I just have to wait to see if Santa has been peeking at my wish list on the HD web site.
"She" already got me the bike, maybe she'll get me some goodies to go with it.
