I have seen some discussion about this here. I am pretty sure I would need the front end from the same series as my bike.(06-08 for an 08 model?) Is there any difference between FL front ends between the fatboy, heritage, or deluxe? Is the touring model front end the same as the FL softails? Thinking about casually looking around for one until I find a good deal, but just looking for the right components.
The more I poke around on here the FL forks have grown on me and down the road may change things up.
Thanks,
b
Well, if you can put an FL front end on a Dyna, which some people have, I would assume you could put one on a FX softail. For the Dyna's it requires some modifications to the lower fork clamp, but after that everything else bolts on.
I don't think the FL softailfront end is exactly the same as the touring, although some parts may be interchangeable. And I do know the 07 Fatboy is an oddball, different lower sliders and something about an offset front wheel.
how about a 03 standard ?i assume it would be pre 06? where would it start 2000? i too have decided to make this change going to do it this winter ,while i love the look of my 21 " wheel i just dont like the ride as much as the bigger tire rim plus i realy like the headlight setups on the
FL'S
Just depends on how much money you wanna throw at it. All the big twins have 1 inch necks on em, so really you should be able to fit any set of forks that match the 1 inch neck.
Depends on if you wanna buy new caliper and axle and spacer or not....plus whatever else you wanna fit it with!
'06 is 3/4" axle as I believe an '07 might be. Look for '08 to '10 model. It will be a direct swap over if you get the complete front end.
edit: Touring front end is a different beast. Only difference in the FL softail fat front ends is the trim packages.....
'07 is when they changed to the 25mm axle. I would be inclined to go with an earlier front end, as the 3/4" is pretty easy to find rims for, unless you're buying a new rim anyways.

The OD of the sealed bearings are all the same. You can take any sealed bearing wheel & swap bearings to match whatever axle you have/want.
I think most are interchangeable it just comes down like said above... wheels and caliper. I have a 84-99 frontend on my 08 rocker.
besides wheel and caliper did the ft end bolt right on? bearings are all the same?
only asking cause there are a bunch of late 90's ft ends around right now
im planning on doing a wheel change anyways so a caliper isnt a big deal if i didnt have a 03 bike there would be 03 ft ends everywhere lol
