Ok, so my 2006 Heritage Classic is starting to **** me off. Here's my issue...Whenever I cold start my scoot it turns right on but then the engine begins to sputter after 30 secs and then it decides to kick the can. It'll do that OR, it'll turn right on and idle well but when I put in on gear to take off, once again, it tells me to f*ck off and decides to die. Once I finally get it going it runs pretty strong but when I'm riding at a constant speed it begins to jerk a bit. It only kicks my *** within the first 10 mins but after that it rides pretty strong. It also gets unbelievably hot after a while. Any thoughts???? I appreciate it fellas!
Does it do it with a full tank of gas? It sounds like the old pin hole in the fuel line deal. If you take the gas cap off, turn the ignition to the run position and hear the fuel pump prime... you should hear the fuel pump, but if you have a pin hole you'll hear gas splashing around. A pin hole in the fuel line doesn't allow for proper fuel pressure and you'll get the sputter and it'll act crazy. If it sounds like the issue, there are many articles on here about how to fix it. Simple job, just a pain to do.
It does sound like the pin hole issue. When I had this issue my bike would not shut off but when the fuel got below the pinhole, the bike ran like crap. I never did listen for the fuel in the tank, I just took it apart and put a new fuel line on. 4 years and counting without another issue.
To be honest, I've noticed that it's done it no matter how empty or full the tank is. Ima knock out the test to see if I here anything. Also, I've noticed that it is draggin *** a little bit.
Did you have your injectors changed from 8 to 25 degree injectors under the service bulletin? 06's had your type of cold start issues because of the injectors.
Definitely sounds fuel related. Could be a filter clogged or kinked line too. The bike is 5 years old but you didn't say how many miles on it.
Bike has about 30k miles and TLB, I wouldn't know if the injectors where changed. I actually just got it a few months ago from a dealership. They told me that it was all update in services....whatever that means.
