Well this opinion may not count for much because I didn't have the V&H duals, just the V&H Pro 2-into-1. However, I really liked the V&H pipes.

Then I went to Samson True Duals and WOW. The rumble is so deep and throaty compared to the V&H pipes I had. The bike now looks and sounds awesome. And that's with the baffles in...

Love my Samsons.

I went with the Vance & Hines true dual, and I'm pretty happy with the sounds and appearance. I like their fishtail tips better, but that's just me. They were pretty easy to install and not as expensive as the Samsons.

I think I am going to go with the 23.5 samsons I am real concerned about parking issues like scrapping curbs and such.here in the city if you dont back up to the curb alllot of times you are hanging out in the street.now the question is baffles or no baffles

No baffles and then you can add them if you choose. The Samson baffled pipes have baffles that are not removable.

I had both, baffles=loud,no baffles=LOUD!!!.The 28.5 would bring the tips to the end of the rear fender. You should be able to get away with these with out issue in NYC.I may be wrong but I do not think you can add baffles to the non baffled Samson mufflers.Because the way they are shaped. They are narrower where they slip on to the head pipe then they become wider in the muffler body,You may be able to fit some baffles into the head pipes. But it would be a tight squeeze on the crossover head pipe side. You could always run torque cones for added back pressure. But I don't think they would suppress the sound if they were too loud for you.

Is it ok to run them without baffles what actually do the baffles do other than muffle the sound a bit

I would think besides muffle the sound they create a little more back pressure for the exhaust.I think it is the general thought with no back pressure you will lose a little HP.I am not in it for the power so that does not bother me .I like style sound and looks.I personally felt no power loss at all.But I did a high flow AC and PCV from Fuel Moto at the same time.Bike runs perfect and sounds insane.

Yup I have the non baffled 39" Cholos.I don't know if the length of the mufflers has anything to do with the sound. But these pipes have the most wicked decel sound I have ever heard.I really don't know how to even describe it.Its just straight up bad *** sounding.
