Default Air Cleaner

Ok, I have a 99 Fatboy (Evo engine) I want the "Harley-Davidson Skulls" edition aircleaner insert. The fitment says 99 and later V-twins with stock air cleaner. The dealer said it would not work because of a different bolt pattern on the two air cleaners. They both have a center bolt that attaches them to the back plate. The Skulls insert actually has a bracket that has a bolt in the middle and then like 5-6 screws that hold the insert to the bracket. Why won't this work on both the evo and v-twin stock air cleaner? My evo's air cleaner is round and the center of the v-twin's air cleaner is round. So, has anyone tried to do this on an evo yet? I don't want to but the thing and then have no use for it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!! Bryan

A buddy of mine has one on his 97 wide glide. Dealer told him it wouldn't work, but it fit no problem and looks good. I think he may have had to bend the bracket slightly, but it looks to me like it was made to go there...

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty sure it would work but I just wanted to check first. You cannot always believe what the steeler says. Thanks again!

I think Twowheels got it right. Perhaps you might have to bend your
bracket a little. I needed to put a washer between the air cleaner filter
and the bracket myself.
