Default Brake Noise

What's the best way to quiet the brakes down on my '93 Heritage. When I bought the bike, it had stock Harley pads on and both front and rear squealed when applying. Worse is that they made a grinding sound of the pads on the rotors all the time during riding. The rear is especially bad for quite a while after hitting the brake hard. Both sets of pads look like new. The rotors are not in bad shape, but they are 18 years old and have 70K miles on them.

I purchased Ferodo platinum pads for the front and rear and installed them on the front so far. The grinding sound is no where near what it used to be but is still more than I'd like and I still have the same squealing.

Will the blue plastic anti-squeal goop for the rear surface of auto disc brake pads do the trick?

Any idea how to quiet down the grinding? Are we talking new rotors? I do plan on changing the front brakes to multi-piston for more stopping power and I'll probably do the rotor at the same time, but that's not real high on the list right now.

My 99 and my 07 sounded like the pads were grinding when they were new but after installing pipes I couldn't hear it anymore. If they squeel you need to grease the backs of the pads and the pins with brake grease. It comes in small 1$ packets at almost all auto parts stores.

+1 on the grease. The squealing is actually vibration between the pads and the surfaces of the rotors and calipers. The grease helps absorb this vibration. The grinding sound will be hard to get rid of unless you can find a super soft pad. A lot of dust and a short lifespan would be the trade-off though.
