So,, I haven't ridden in like 20 years.. I'm buying a rocker c.... I'm thinking I might like to change the front tire to be wider.. so that creases or level changes in the road are less of a hazard..
How to I figure out how wide of a front tire I can put on it.. or what all would be involved.. do I have to get that done at harley because of the warranty? what kind of price am I looking at.. ? I'm thinking about twice as wide as it is from the factory .. or something like that.. probably not as wide as the rear tire..
You would probably be looking at a lot of work on that one! Twice as wide as stock (I'm measuring from my couch here) would most likely require a wide glide front end. The Rocker uses a "mid glide" as stock. A wider front end would also require external steering stops or a different tank. Honestly the stock size tire doesn't seem too bad. I only notice an issue in roads that have had the top surface ground off or noticeable large grooves in the surface.
I'd think that big a front wheel would require a fork brace and beefier fork springs.
The stock tire isn't as narrow as a stock FXST/C or FXWG's 21" and my FXSTC doesn't track the grooves once I got rid of the stock "ribbed" tire.
I've had no problems with the stock or now 21" on my FXCWC following grooves left in the roads.
It comes stock with a 90/90/19 on the front. I ran 2 metzler 100/90/19 up front and it fits with no changes and rides great. The 90/90 dunlop rode good also, the metz maybe a hair better. I just went back to the 90/90 dunlop for the looks. Bigger than 100/90 and you have to do some changes per some of the other folks on here.
hi i know it’s been a while since this post but I would like to know if you used your stock tree and forks to run that size tire?
Yes, I run a 21"x 3.5" with a 120mm tire on my Rocker with the stock narrow glide front end. You will need to change the spacers, and modify or replace the fender unless you're going without...
