Default Changing handlebar position

Per a suggestion in another thread here, I would like to lower the position of my handlebars on my '04 Heritage to try to alleviate some tendonitis in my left arm. My manual has not yet arrived (Have not checked yet today) so I will ask.

Anyone with a manual for that year softail that can give me torq specs for all the bolts to move my bars (tilt them lower) I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance.

Never worried about torque specs for the handlebar clamp bolts. I don't even think my MoCo manual has them. Tighten them down evenly so that the top clamp isn't too far forward or backwards and get them tight enough so the handlebars won't slip and they won't come loose. I usually use an allen wrench instead of a socket. That way it's more difficult to tighten them too much.

I think its around 150ish inch pounds. I crank em down. They can move= scary on the highway.

As said before tighten evenly and tight enough you can jerk on the bars with no movement.

Specs for my 08 is to first hand tighten 2 front screws. Tighten rear screws 12-15ft lbs. Then tighten front screws same. I do mine 18-20lbs to be on the safe side. Never heard of anyone breaking them off from over tightening so I don't know if it's possible or not.

Never even thought about torque specs for risers. I've been doing this way too long.

can't find the specs in my 05' manual. took the time to actually get it out and look!! I know I've changed the risers on lots of bikes, and I've never worried about the specs. But....I've always used loctite too!
