Default Fat Boy/Rush Mufflers Sound Clip

For those of you thinking about a set of Rush mufflers, here's a short video clip of my Fat Boy after installation of a pair of the slash-cut versions with 2.00" baffles. No other modifications have been made other than the mufflers swap. The bike is definitely louder now, but not too loud and far from obnoxious. It also has a much deeper, more "classic Harley" sound now. I like them and would buy them again!

Sounds nice, but you have to move that yellow plastic lawn ornament out to give the bike some more room.

OK jokes over, what have you done to reset the FI system? PCIIIusb?
Why I ask is that if even half of what I have read is true the 07 are setup to run leaner than hell from the factory.
One reaon they seem to be hotter than previous years, and it's not going to do it any good to run it any leaner.
Adding those nice pipes will push it at least a little farther in the wrong (leaner) direction.
Especially if you now go out and get a nice K&N air filter or the SE version.

Well, I've done nothing in that regard, but I've been assured by Rush and apparently most H-D dealerships agree that using their 2.00" or smaller baffle mufflers and making no changes on the intake side don't require any remapping. To be on the safe side, after I've ridden the bike a few days with the new setup, I'm going to pull the plugs and see how they look.

No doubt about it it, the bike now sounds like a Harley is supposed to. I started off with the 2" baffles on my Heritage Softail Classic, but a 1000-mile road trip convinced me they were a little loud for me, so I went to the 1.75" baffles, which are perfect. Kept the 2" baffles, though, in case I change my mind.

The ability to change the baffle size on these mufflers is a great option!

That sounds like a plan, I just have my reservations about what they say and what the facts may actually be.
Mostly because everyone seems to agree that the engines are running at least a bit lean already. So any pipe or intake change could push it over the edge into the self destruction or melt down range.
I had one salesman in a dealer tell me that I could do virtually anything I wanted to because the new closed loop system on the 07's could adapt to any changes up to 30% off the factory spec map.
The more I learn about the system the more I'm starting to believe that guy might have been the local equivalent of the village idiot and had no idea what the hell he was talking about.

Take care and let me know how the plugs look. [sm=biker2.gif]

It's my understanding that since the '07's have the narrow band O2 sensors in place that a pipe change, as long as it's not too radical, will not cause the bike to run any leaner than it already does. So with just the pipe change XTrooper3936 should be good to go.

XTrooper3936...bike sounds great! Now let's hear that 'Vette!
