Once you try different brands you will feel the difference in the way the bike rides. Regardless of that fact, the 200mm tires do not last very long at all. The main factors in tire life are road condition, tire pressure, and how you twist the throttle.
I check my pressure weekly to keep it where it should be. On softer tires like Avon's Perelli's and Metzeler's, I run a higher pressure as per the manufacturer to ensure a long tire life.
I get 10K out of my rears, but they are not the 200mm tire either.

+1 on the 200 tires not lasting long. Every tech will tell you that. They look great...but don't last.
I had a nail in my rear tire at 6100 and changed it out. I had maybe 1K of rubber left at best. I put the 401 Dunlop on---lets see how long this one lasts.
I dont try to get too involved with different brands they all claim one thing or another ..... its a tyre made round to go round .... i just ride my bike's and when the tyre's are due to legally be changed it's done and then i ride again ....Life's a mystery to be lived not solved!
Uh seriously? Tires are the only thing connecting you from your bike to the road. Types of tires definitely help with different types of terrain. On my jeep i'm not going to put an all terrain tire on my wheels and try to go rock crawling and wonder why my tires keep sliding all over the place...
Anyways....
I put Avon venoms last season on my fatboy, Love them. Night and day from the stock dunlops, and I ride hard.
Michelin pilot powers on my gixxer, those are also awesome, especially the dual compound type that I got, the center of the tire is a harder rubber for lasting longer since the majority of riding is in the center. stickier compound on the sides.
I use www.jakewilson.com for buying my tires. Their prices are awesome, and they're always having sales. I just got an email about a 4th of july sale coming up. Buy from them and have installed at an independent bike shop to save money.

Everyone knows you use mud tires to go rock crawling! All terrain are for Cadillac Escalades that never leave the pavement. 35x12.50x15's BFG Mud Terrains on my Jeep.
06Fatboy-CT .... Thank you for the heads up on the specifics of why we use tyre's ..... You mention types of tyre's for different types of terrain ..... well i ride a Harley so i dont go off-piste or motorbike scrambling ..... tend to stay on the roads all the time so dont really need all action tyre's just stock ......
