Just had my 8000km (5000 mile) service on my 2010 Fat Boy Lo and I was told I need a new rear tire and I soon need a new front tire. Needless to say I was somewhat shocked.!
I have the stock Dunlop tires on my bike now but does anybody have any suggestions for a tire that I can get longer life out of? BTW, I do not run my bike hard.
The stock tire for the crossbones lasted the longest for me(7000mi) but hands down the best wet and dry traction tire is the pirrelli night dragon. I here good things about the Avon's too. I have an 07 fxst and ive gone through 19 rear tires.
+1 on the Night Dragons. Took me 2 rear and 1 front Dumbflops before 15k to say screw this and find another brand. I've got over 3k on the Pirellis and they still have plenty of life left...much happier. Better price as well.
I'm at 10600 miles right now and I'm putting my 3rd tire on the rear and my second on the front. Not bad for the front, but it should have gone another 4K miles I think. But the back only gets 5K. They now have the D401 for the rear and they tell me it should last closer to 10K...we'll see.
I dont try to get too involved with different brands they all claim one thing or another ..... its a tyre made round to go round .... i just ride my bike's and when the tyre's are due to legally be changed it's done and then i ride again ....Life's a mystery to be lived not solved!
