Default Don't want to catch fire

Just put on the rush slip ons. I have aftermarket bags for my 08 deluxe. They are bigger than the stock bags. How far away from the pipes should they be. I have a detachable hard mount kit and don't want to put too many holes in the bags. Any help would be great.

How much closer to the stock pipe were the new bags? I would not go much closer than that gap without checking with the maker of the new bags.

Do the slip ons have a heat shield that wraps half way around it? If so you can rotate the heat shield to give the bags a little protection.

I put the old heat shields on. I didn't think about that. The bags really did not come with any instructions. They were oringinallt throw overs. I have been trying to use the herritage as a go by.

The Dyna Big Bags on my SB and Springer Fringe bags on my FB are .75 to 1 inch above the Mufflers. Both where dealer installed so I am going to assume this would be correct.

1" sounds safe. I however am not going to automatically assume that anything a dealer does is 100% correct. I have unfortunately had mine install HD parts (headlight visor of all things) completely wrong

I have measured several different bikes at the dlr. They all seem to be 3/4 to 2". I am going to split the difference and call it a day.
