My most lovely wife rides an 07 FLSTN, Deluxe. Just yesterday, we were on a nice long ride when she complained that it seemed as if her bike was downshifting from 6th to 5th under uphill acceleration. I traded her bikes, the clutch was slipping. I made the only adjustment available, no change. The bike has only about 20k miles on it, so it wouldn't seem that it's time for a clutch..... I have, as I said made the cable adjustment, I also lubricated the cable when we returned home with no change. It almost feels as if the clutch is not fulling releasing when releasing the clutch handle....
Thanx in Advance.

I have a buddy who's lady friend wore her clutch out really quickly as she was holding it in the friction zone every time she stopped. That was just how she rode. He replaced it with a barnett clutch and it has been fine ever since. Basically, every time she stopped the clutch was wearing due to her riding style.
On top of the deep adjustment, you might want to switch from primary lube to Dextron ATF. It has far superior lubricating traits and is also really high in detergents which clean and extend the clutch pack. I have been running ATF in my bikes for years, its an old drag race trick that works awesome.
Your most lovely wife? What does your second loveliest wife ride? How many wives do you have anyway?

Seriously, +1 on this. The cable adjustment does not adjust your clutch at all unless you run it too far which is not what it's meant for. It is for removing the free play in the clutch lever after you adjust your clutch.
I have a similar problem. When I let off the clutch, it seems like I have to almost let lever out before it engages. It also seems to be slipping a little under heavier acceleration or when my wife is on the back.
Thanx Dr. VTwin,
That was it! I have only one wife, she is most lovely, whether she is next to me or not.....
I did review my manual; while it's quite thorough on removal and reinstallation of the clutch pack adjuster, no where could I find instructions for adjustment, the video was very helpful.
