need input on hd lan system
hi ive been on my 01 fltri for 10 yrs now and 90k,thinkin about a new flstc just curious about this new hd lan stuff.any input greatly appreciated thanx

its a can system (controller area network) all control units communicate with each other and share all info. your radio changes volumn via lan system. it gets a signal from abs sensor (wheel speed) and tells radio to go up or down in volumne. it saves wiring and weight by using a high and low can wire. it really doesn't affect the owner except when can system goes down, then there can be several modules inop as communication is inturrupted, been on cars for a long time now, with more control modules coming on line in bikes, it was bound to happen
I was in the car electronics field until I lost my job and CAN bus has been a blessing. Instead of having to wire up things analog, so much can just be done with the software now. Now on a bike I don't think its really necessary but that's the way the technology is going
