I want a chopper with a fat rear and am looking at Big Dog k9s and Big Bear Sled 300s. Any thoughts, experiences, comments? I am aware of the issue with the frame on the 04 and 05 Big Bears, but would be considering 2008+. That does give me some hesitation though. This would be in addition to my Lo, not instead of it. Be happy to hear from anyone who has had one or any other similar bikes I haven't considered. Thanks.
I've always liked Thunder Mountain Customs because you still get Harley engines and trannies in a sweet chopper body...Not sure if they are still being produced or not. Here's a link on them:
If you can wrench you can find real good deals but if you need support make sure it's something that can be serviced ...Big Dogs are nice and you can still get parts fairly easily...I love the pro street...specially the Mastiff...
Big dogs in general are garbage yea they threw top notch parts together for the most part but ill just put it this way my homies first k9 caught fire due to manufactures shoddy wiring work. Big dog wasnt going to do **** untill they got a letter from my homies attorney. Oh yea did i mention that if its under warranty you have to wait on thier parts to be made for your bike to be serviced? Homie had his bike in the shop for 2 months waiting on new blinkers because his **** snapped, big dogs excuse "we only manufacture a couple times a year"
Since all the companies are out of business except for big bear I think you can find just about anything you want. A friend has a BigDog K9 and he has had wire issues and controls issues the hand controls are BigDog alone but just swtich them out for better ones and they work out fine. I would look for an IronHorse first. fewer issues. There are quite a few on Craigs list around here seems all the barhopper guys are selling now
