I have a FXSTI and driving down the road it will stall, I had it checked out at the local shop and they couldn't find anything wrong and of course it wouldn't do it for them. Any one have a clue on what this could be?
Yep,, just had that done to mine.. at 33k miles. Every time I fill up she'd run fine for 100 miles or so.. then she'd start missing... fill up again and all well till another 100..
I didn't do a new filter as per my Indy and my conversation.. he said the filter will last longer than the recommended 25k that HD says it will.
True the filter prob will but the hoses prob wont anymore with the Ethanol gas we have to use and buy/.
The wrench that fixed mine said that since they switched to the Ethanol that a lot of Harleys now are having to switch out the hoses every 3-4 yr.
True the filter usually will go farther,,, but a pinhole in one of Ur rubber tubes inside the tank wont...
I went ahead and replaced everything inside the tank,,, about $150 in part and 2 hrs labor...
Bad thing was mine did it when I was over 500 miles away from home on a 5 day riding vacation...
Still IMO its better to do it at the 25k or 30k service than be sitting on the side of the road waiting to be towed in.
no, she doesn't like to start when it is warm RPM's stay high for a while and also sometimes when I am idling at a stop light. when that happens I know she is going to want to stall when I try to gas on it.
