Looking for advice from any deluxe riders on installing a radio. As much as I like the open road and riding without the radio noise, I find myself somewhat mesmerized to often while riding alone and find that the radio helps. I currently use an ipod but don't like the high volume needed for the highway, along with the hassle of another item to keep track of. I dislike the thought of losing my windshield bag, but don't want to find myself in the ditch someday because of daydreaming to an enjoyable ride.
Thanks!
Cold and a bit of snow has hit early in Wisconsin so I am looking forward to spring riding already.
I use my ipod with some kick *** ear buds. They are made by Shure and are the E2 model. In-ear Canal Phones. They make a seal in your ear canal so all you hear (for the most part) is the music.
I'm going a little fancy and am buying a GPS/XM/MP3 device ZUMO 550 by Garmin. It has GPS and Blue tooth XM. Just need a blue tooth headset for your helmet. Very small unit. Easy to pop off and can be used in different vehicles. If you want to go cheaper, I have a MP3 player, but you can use any audio device and buy a headset from Radio shack that has the foam on the ends (I think around $13, take the foam off, buy a set of your favorite foam ear plugs, drill a 1/8" hole through them and insert the earplug onto the headset. It's very confortable, keeps out the noise and you can hear the music clearly.
Thanks for the info - looks like a good choice, now if I can get some more opinions from people who have them, want to be sure when I spend the cash I won't be disappointed.
I purchased A 2wheeltune system for my Heritage last summer. Bought it for a trip to S.C. Was very unimpressed at highwat speeds. They have new sound cones thats suposse to help, but I've decided to sell it and try something else. Also for the record I have V&H long big shots with the quieter baffles. Just could'nt hear it at highway speeds. Maybe I needed a better MP3, I'm Just wasn't happy with it. Thougt you shuold know.
