Bad '09 Heritage fuel pump???
She's a '09 FLSTC w/ Arlen Ness Stage 1 & V&H True Duals with 16,800 on the clock. In May of '10 with maybe 7 on the clock I had a problem of no power, coughing intake, popping exhaust (running lean)...after 3 visits to the dealer they found the poppet of the main fuel line bad. They replaced the fuel line but on the way home it still wasn't 100%, turned around and they did a fuel pressure test...test fail. Replaced fuel line and pump under warrany. Well this past Tuesday 2 August, it started doing it again. No acceleration, popping exhaust, caughing intake. Took it to the dealer and informed them of the history of this last year. They said they found the intake gaskets bad and replaced. Well I had a Iron Butt ride today 1000 miles in 24 hours and it isn't fixed. When we left I could tell that it wasn't 100%, it took more throttle than normal to get the power I wanted. Then at mile 220 it started coughing, popping and wanting to stall. Decided to ride it out, and about 80 miles later it settled down. Filled up with gas, ran fine. Another gas run, ran fine. One more fill up, wouldn't start after fill up. Could not hear the pump prime, it would crank but not fire. Checked fuses...check good. Let sit for 5 minutes. Tried again, heard pump, then it fired up and ran like a raped ape ever since. WTF!!! BTW, it doesn't matter if it's a new tank of gas or 60 miles in, it'll act up when it wants to. Let me know what you think. Thanks
