On my 07 Luxe. When I adjust my belt tention and measure from swingarm bolt back to the rear axle on both sides and make each side even the pulley appears to be not square with the belt and the belt rides on the left side of the pulley. Also the bars (APES) seam a little crooked. Not much but noticable. If I adjust the right side about 1/16"- 1/8" closer to the swingarm bolt (forward) the belt rides in the center of the pulley with 1/16" on each side of the belt. And the Bars (APES) seam straight. Any Ideas why this would be like that. Motor crooked in the frame? Any adjustment? It has been this way since I got the bike. I just lived with it but its driving me nuts. Thanks for any imput. Also the sled has never been bent.
Have you been drinking? Just kidding. I find that when my belt is riding on the outside edge the axle is not compeltely straight in teh swing arm. Loosen the axle and adjsut one of the axle pinch bolts and see which direction makes the belt ride in the center...
As far as teh bars, does this only happen when the rear wheel is where it is now or is it all the time? If all the time sounds like your risers are crooked. Loosen the bottom riser bolts, stick the front wheel in a corner or something and push until straight. Then re tighten riser bolts. I adjust it the same as you do, but have it on the lift and spin the tire, I may add a 1/4 to1/2 turn to make sure the belt rides straight. hope this makes sense
imo measuring and adjusting the bolts so they are equal distance is the first step. Riding the bike, letting go of the bars, and making sure it does not pull in either direction is the final adjustment test. Does the bike ride straight? May be after checking and if it needs a slight readjusting, the bars will then be straight.
The first thing I would do is run a long straight edge along the side of the bike across both wheels and check their alignment to each other. From there you will be able to determine the rear wheel alignment within the swingarm, and get your belt/pulley alignment correct.

If you don't have a long enough straight edge, wrap a piece of string around the rear portion of the rear wheel. Have it so it's long enough to pull one end of the string on each side of the bike past the front wheel. Have the bike sitting upright with the front wheel pointing forward (this may require someone sitting on the bike. Keep the string as high as possible without hitting the bike's structure. Stand in front of the bike with an end of the string in each hand. Pull the string taut with your arms spread. Then bring the ends toward each other until the strings touch both sides of the forward part of the rear tire. The small gap between each string and the front tire's front and aft portions should be the same.

Thanks guys, So what Im hearing is that it is more important to have the wheel alignment right and the belt ride center on the pulley than the measurement equal on both sides from the swingarm bolt to axle. Thats my thoughts also. Thanks again guys. Drew, hopefully your riding on your vacation. I have to get up at 3am tomorrow to drive my son to Pheonix AZ. 20 hrs each way. Hes going to MMI to be a Motorcycle tech. Hopefully he will be able to rebuild my sled when needed.
