+1 for the update and fixing it yourself! Hope the clutch episode didn't stop you from getting the endorsement! Must have made for an interesting test!
This is my first HD and certainly not my last. I have heard of the comradery associated w/ HD owners and experienced it 4 days post buying my bike. There were 10 of us doing the moto skills test. After my bike went down there was one other HD owner there and I finished it on his Fat Boy. He offered, I said no and he wouldn't take no for an answer. Pretty cool stuff and certainly something I can only hope to pass on in my interactions. Cheers!!
I lost the clutch because it had pulled the arm all the way forward engaging the clutch
Just FYI, when you pull the clutch lever you are disengaging the clutch, not engaging it. You engage the clutch when you release the lever. So it was stuck in disengaged state.
You are correct a clutch is engaged when riding. Its kinda hard to say "ya that's what I said" when I have it in writing. So the PNW in your posting name doesn't stand for Panhandle NorthWest? From the area so was just curious.
Before adjusting the clutch pack, I'd check out the ramp/***** under the right hand side cover. One of the ***** might have got stuck or something simple like that, keeping the clutch disengaged. Easy to check.
When was the last time the oil was changed? 4000 miles on a 7-year-old bike ... that oil might have been in there for a long time
