2007 Softal Standard
I have a 96" exhaust, super tunner, 254e cams, it certainly has more pull across the board however not near enough.
My thougths are going 103, new cylinders, high compressin flat top sc pistons 10:5-1, the pro max valocity heads and 211 cams.
I have pced the kit togther as I was not likeing the Stage 4 kit they offer.
I thought the 211 would be bad *** right through the rpm range. The 257.258.259.260 have greater lift and duration than the 211, however their intake ADBC is 45 rather than the others listed in the 50's.
Thoughts please, I ride one up mostly, hwy drive 50% the rest is winding roads.
Everything I've read and seen on the 211' is they do shine with a bump in Comp. They're said to be soft below 3k without it.
They make really good TQ and HP all the way up to 5800 starting around 3k.
With the top end U doing I am thinking it will be a great build.
The only thing I don't know much on is which head work U'll need, Someone else may chime in to help U on that..
Don't forget to look in the touring and softail section. In the sticky sections in both there it a whole thread on DNYO's..
There's over 3K post in them with dyno sheet and all the specs of different builds to help U see what other have done, what parts they Used and their results..
I would stay with the 96 and build it. My bike has the 88 with 95" kit , gear driven cams , V&H big shots , SE AC , and some head work done. I haven't found a 103 yet that can come close to me once we hit 3K. I use the dyno jet programmer and the dyno sheet claims I am at 100 HP and 105 TQ. 103's from what I hear are torque monsters but they fall on their face pretty quick. Not sure how they are after being modded some.
i have a 88 to 95 build big bore kit with scremin eagle heads pistons roller rockers and perfect fit push-rods i am running 257 cams considered mid to high end cams and i am happy with them. my bike really pulls all the way through the gears they may not have as much lo end torque but i prefer the mid to high end. I also agree that i can run by the factory 103 factory built bikes even the 110s they are bogged down with all the EPA crap and if you remove it your warranty is gone. That is the difference my bike lost the warranty the minute i had the build done even though i had it done by the Harley dealer who tells you they will stand by it. there are not to many people who will stand behind a build unless its something that can show it self as the builders fault. the factory 103 and 110 are fully warranted thats nice but its just not all it could be
