Default Gas Tank adjustment

I have an '09 Heritage Classic that I have added LED lights to. I would like to add more to the front frame and run the wiring back to the battery. If I loosen the bolt on the front of the gas tank, & remove the back bolt holding the tank to the frame, will the tank lift up enough to get a couple of wires under it and back to the battery?

Any thoughts??
Thanks

The crossover tube is fairly tight and goes underneath the frame, you probably cant move it much without draining the tank and removing the tube

I ran Throttle/Idle cables under my tank without removing it.

Just do like you said and slide the tank back a bit.

Shouldn't be an issue

For wires for LEDS which are quite thin I would tape them to a long cat hanger and try to get them in the tunnel under the tank, but slide it back a bit first as well. Also make sure to unplug the gas line first so you do not break it.

I never understood all the fuss about trying to get to things under the tank without removing it. I can have the tank off my bike in under five minutes and it usually takes a lot longer than that to dick around trying to get wires or whatever in and out from underneath the tank. Once you pull the tank a couple of times it's a breeze. The biggest PITA is draining the tank but that just takes a spare piece of fuel line hose (we all have that lying around) and a five gallon can. Do that first and by the time you're done preparing whatever you're going to do, the tanks are empty. I keep a worm gear instead of a pinch clamp on one of the crossover lines and on the line on the petcock so those come right off. One nut to remove the console, three bolts for each half of the tank, a couple vent hoses and the tank is off the bike and everything is in plain site. Now's a good time to wax the entire tank instead of just the places you can get to when it's mounted. Just my

I just pulled my fi tank the first time and it was a messy job. I've removed a lot of gas tanks. I thought I was prepared by reading a lot of posts/threads about it, drained the tank as best I could, had fuel line handy when the crossover was removed, a gas can to drain the fuel into, plugs to stop up the crossovers after they drained but still I managed to spill a lot of gas. My shoes still smell like gas. I let the garage air out for a day before actually doing what I was trying to do, fixing a high beam wire. So I am taking full advantage of having the tank off - cleaning, tightening, inspecting connectors, etc.
