Default Help with cable lengths Rocker Apes

Guys, on my 09 Rocker, I purchased 14" apes along with 2" risers, i want to have everything in hand before i try to tackle this myself.
Can anyone that has installed 14" apes on a Rocker give me ideas of what cable lengths i will need, or the best method to figure out what will be needed?
Should I mock up the apes and measure how short the oem cables are?
Friday the apes arrive, next week the other hardware, i would love to get the cables and wires ordered asap to get this complete with a little summer weather left.

I have a service manual and usually tackle the work myself, but before I get started I would feel better hearing hints and Tips from the folks that have done this before.

Thanks

I don't know if this will help you or make things more confusing.....

When I switched to 12" apes with 1 1/2" risers, I ordered all cables +2 from stock. Brake line was long (could have used the stock line), clutch cable was long but the throttle and idle cables were right on.

If you're getting the bars and risers this Friday, I would do a mock up and measure. Good luck and post pics.

On mine with the 13.5 inch BR bars and 1.5 inch Carlini risers, the stock cables were just short of fitting.
I let Bill @ BR Custom Bars order the cables and they ended up a little long.
I think he went with 4 over on the brake and throttle and 6 on the clutch.

Like micahpop stated, 2 over would have worked on my set up.

Which 14 inch bar you going with? Carlini 14 inchers are actually closer to 16 inch.

I just ordered some 14" DA narrow glide apes today. Based on some info Michahop shared with me a couple of weeks ago, I went 35 on my throttle and idle, 71 on my clutch and 54 on the brake. I will be using 3" riders. I hope to have everything to get started by next week. If you still haven't ordered by then, I'll let you know how it goes for me. Good luck!

By the way, here are the stock lengths that the dealer gave me. Throttle 30 3/4, idle 30 3/4, clutch 66 11/16. He couldn't find length for stock brake line. Hope this helps.

From what others have posted about Carlini bars Dan, they run 2 higher than they state for the size.

Not sure about the 10 inch ones though?
Most have gotten the 14 or taller and found they run 2 inch taller than the specs list them as.

Once I get a handle on lengths I'm going to try and buy local so i can exchange them if they are to short/long. What about the wire extentions? I notice they have basic kits like 4" 6" 10" etc. should I buy a kit, or are most of you just cutting and soldering yourselves?
One thing I plan is photos and documenting of every step. About 8 years ago I did a step by step installation guide for a Bushtec trailer hitch onto a 2002 Goldwing and set up a web page. I had 100s of emails from people that used it as a guide since the bushtec guide was vague and had no pictures. Of course, it could be embarrasing being called out for stupid mistakes, but hey! I can always edit and delete so I look more smarter!......
