Ignnition Module Location for '87 FXSTC
I recently needed to get the ignition module replaced as the dealership said the original one was bad. They suggested I not place the module in its original location because it sits near the oil pan and could get fried. So they suggested I place it just under the seat. I went with their suggestion, but when I came home the module isn't bolted to anything and it sits just behind the battery and some of the wires are coiled up in the battery case. It just looks like a careless job of placing the module in a new location, and I'm beginning to think if the module didn't fry sitting it it's original location after all these years why would it now?
Would love to get thoughts on this suggestion and whether it makes a difference placing it in its original location.
On another note...I've questioned this dealership''s work from the beginning of this job and the work looks really sloppy and shoddy. They upsold me on a new battery, which I questioned but went for anyway. This situation with the ignition module has me concerned, should I have it placed back to its original location? Is it now in a worse location than before?
Thanks!
