I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with the front master cylinder cover leaking. I have had mine replaced under warrantee twice in the last 2 years. I have been told by the dealer that its a design flaw and it happens all the time. I just replaced the rear brake cover as well due to it leaking. That one i got the chrome cover cause it just looks better. It seems to happen when I really get on it. I hit 110 today for a bit and I was thinking maybe the vibration and wind caused a bit of leakage. Its only ever a little bit.
Try loosening up a bit on the two screws holding it on. If they're cranked down to hard, it will leak. Might have to experiment with it a bit to get it to stop leaking.
yup happened to me as well.... i've replaced mine once, and its time to replace it again soon. you would think since they know its a design flaw they would just fix the problem.
I've been there too. Bike was only a few months old and had to get it replaced. I was told it was an upgraded seal, and it hasn't leaked since. Never had trouble with the rear one though.
Yep, mine too. Its amaizing that H.D. can put the engine together and it will go 50k miles but the brake resevior rubber gasquet will only last a couple thousand miles. Maybe its rocket science? LOL
its hit and miss, no -its not normal to leak all the time even though many do (Not all)...mine leaked after I serviced it. Got a new cover a month later and it's leak free now. Look carefully at the new one before buying and ask to see another if it looks odd or deformed already. Just be sure to snug the screws, not tighten or you will deform the seal causing another leak
