Stupid question I suppose, but are you sure there isn't too much oil in the tank?
It's not a stupid question. I don't believe there is too much oil in it. I'm on the same oil since August of 2010. It just started leaking last week. I ride about 5000 miles a year.

I agree. These bikes will almost run with no dipstick at all if the oil level is at the right place. I change my oil, put in 2 1/2 quarts, start the engine and let it run, then bring the level just above the low line. That's enough.

If you are confident it isn't overfilled, then wrap about 15 or 20 wraps of teflon tape around the rubber seal on the dipstick and it should quit leaking.
Sounds like the oil tank cap throat may be a little big or slightly distorted. The new dipstick rubber is enough to seal the throat, but over time with heat, the rubber looses some of its elasticity allowing it to leak. The stick itself can act as somewhat of a wick or chase. Maybe you could compare throats with an oil tank like yours.
Could it be a simple fix like replacing the O-rings on the cap?
Maybe the heat caused them to shrink.
I know you can buy thicker O-rings at the local hardware store.
That might fix the problem permently and for cheap.
It's worth a try.

That'd be a great idea...if it had O rings. It doesn't if it's a Softail.
I would double check the oil level when hot, when you take it out make sure you wipe down the rubber so it will seal better, mine will dribble if I don't clean the rubber off
