I'm looking to purchase a 2007 Heritage softail. It has 17600 miles and I'm wondering if I should look for something with fewer miles. This will be my first Harley and I don't want to make a mistake and have trouble down the road.
I'd much rather buy one with some miles rather than 1 that's a garage Queen.
Just sitting there is IMO harder on a bike than ones that's been ridden.
I've got 36k on mine and she really gets better and stronger as the miles roll on. She didn't feel broken in till 25k.
As far a trouble down the road, that all depends if U take care of her, If U do Ur maintenance and don't run the chit out of her U should be fine.
Also I think short trip ridding Vs long rides make a diff. My average ride is at least 2-3hrs long (75-150 miles).
That means more miles between starts, which means less wear on starting system,
I expect and hope to get 125k miles or more before any major issues.
