Harley newb with problems
Very sorry to hear that, but it's what I expected. Man, that really sucks. I don't care what they might try to tell you, but poor oil circulation has most likely damaged a lot of parts. It's vitally important IMO that you do not allow then to put a band-aide on it and send you back on the road, hoping your warranty runs out before the motor self destructs entirely. Hopefully this dealer is a real stand-up company and they offer to replace the engine with factory new. But if they're like so many other dealers out there and just want to repair the top end or some other BS rebuild, you really need to push them for a new replacement motor.
I wish you the best

Should they tell you they will repair the bike. You can contact HD Customer Service and tell them you are not comfortable with that etc etc ...

I appreciate the input guys.
This whole thing kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth in regards to Harley, I come from crotch rockets. I know its a luck of the draw type thing but still...
Being in the automotive industry helps me understand all the inner working and politics of this stuff. I just want my bike back and running strong.
Again, I'll post whatever info get tomorrow. I wish this to no harley owners, it sucks !

Isn't the oil light mean pressure loss. I hope it's just the oil sending unit malfunctioning because with no oil pressure damage occurs instantly and even no pressure for a minute means the life of the motor is significantly reduced
Sounds like they found the original problem but . . . and I do mean BUT . . . the issue at this point is what sort of damage has been done to the Main and Rod Bearings and the Camshaft Lobes. Ideally they'll replace the engine. Here in the US they have the option to repair or replace at their discretion . . . but I'd really want a look-see at the bearings and the cam before I had any confidence that no damage had been done . . . and if it was knocking the chances of there being no damage are between Slim and None and Ol' Slim is walkin' out the door.
An other update........no news !!!!
I spoke with them today, and they said they have to go step by step. So now they are removing and inspecting the oil tank. I feel like they are removing one bolt a day. Everything seems to take forever. If there is no progress tuesday afternoon, Im headed down there and will call Harley corporate.
Did any of you who went through a similar process think it took too long ?
I work at a car dealer and we rip engines apart and diagnose problems the same day.

Well, I can tell you first hand, my Bro is a Harley Tech. I talked to him yesterday about your situation. He said that you need to contact corp. anyways about the problem. That, it is the dealers nature to just do a rebuild. They are in the business of making money and that they are more worried about selling bikes then taking care of "ONE" customer. He said to tell you, thats not how "ALL" dealerships treat customers, but that if you have waited over 2 weeks that they are just dragging their feet on the problem, that they know if the engine has had problems with circulating oil, that the best thing to do is to replace the Engine, COMPLETELY. So, I hope this helps, but he said that you need to call CORP, ASAP, and raise HELL. Thats the only way that you will get a complete and "NEW" engine. Even if they tell you that they are replacing it, he said to be sure to walk around and make sure its a "NEW" engine. Trying to help bro, because at the end of the day, we are all FAMILY.
