I did check to see if it was hot.....it wasnt piping like its been normally but not cold either.
Also, the level seemed almost too high (about an 2 inches from the top).
What pisses me off is that I told them about the oil light and they did nothing about it. Now I'm out of a bike and may have to fight with them for replacement if its damaged as opposed to repairs. Guess my season ended earlier than I thought with winter around the corner.
I'm no mechanic but I would say it's the oil pump or something. Because for the engine to be knocking and not running right I would say it's not getting oil.
HD should fix everything under warranty...and I would be adament that since you were given garbage and if they want some repeat business to loan you a rental bike or something along those lines until yours is fixed.
Went to the BBQ rally in Arkansas last weekend and talked to a guy with a similar problem. Oil kept disappearing but there was no sign of burning or leakage (brand new street glide). After a couple trips to the dealer they determined that a seal between the engine and tranny was leaking and all the oil was going into the tranny. Might be something like that happening to your ride. HD had to replace the engine because of damage as a result of no lube in the engine block.......make sure they figure it out or you could be down again! Good Luck!

I have actually heard of this at my local dealer. I just happened to over hear a conversation with one of the parts guys and the customer about how the seal between the tranny and engine went bad and the oil went to the tranny. He also said it was not the first time he had seen that, so I am guessing it has happened more than just the 3 times we have mentioned. He mentioned in that same conversation that the mechanic working on the bike tried several things to repair it before they figured it out, like an oil pump for one. Hopefully they get ya fixed up.
This is what they told me this afternoon, apparently there is a plastic crank casing cover (eke in mind she told me over the phone in french) and that was the problem as it stopped the oil form circulating properly. They are now dealing with the MoCo to see what the next step is. She says she'll update me on that tomorrow. But I shouldn't expect to get the bike back anytime soon.

We'll see what happens.
Very sorry to hear that, but it's what I expected. Man, that really sucks. I don't care what they might try to tell you, but poor oil circulation has most likely damaged a lot of parts. It's vitally important IMO that you do not allow then to put a band-aide on it and send you back on the road, hoping your warranty runs out before the motor self destructs entirely. Hopefully this dealer is a real stand-up company and they offer to replace the engine with factory new. But if they're like so many other dealers out there and just want to repair the top end or some other BS rebuild, you really need to push them for a new replacement motor.
