I have this custom softail. 96" Evo 6-speed. It's my 1st evo so I'm a bit green.
I love the idle..what a good sound in comparison to my 07 Street Glide.
The bad..holy crap this thing vibrates the bars something fierce..I constantly find myself upshifting really early. Seems to be mid rpm terror on my hands.
Naturally, I can deal with it but it sure would be nice to do something to the bars to soften the shake. The vibrations through the bike are fine, it's just the intense vibes through the bars. It's friggin hard to hold on to.
I've heard of rubber mounted bars but not sure how to tell if I have them or if there is a way I can out them on.
do a google search for "handle bar snake" ive read about it, its supposed to be some sort of rubber that fills the bars and absorbs the vibes or try some foam grips. thats a kick **** bike by the way!

That bike should have rubber or poly bushings where the risers bolt to the triple trees...that being said they don't help much on bars with tall risers sometimes. Check them first....then they make weights that go in the bars...which help a lot, but can be a major pain to install with internal wiring...or you can go old school and fill the bars with lead shot...that is used to reload shotgun shells.
Evo's are usually solid mount as opposed to the rubber mount of the twin cams. that might have something to do with it. I can't tell from the pic which it is but something to think about. We call that vibration personality.
Oh yes, it's a solid mount. Nothing is an issue but mid rpm. I've read the S&S 96" is about the worst of the shakers and it's no joke. It's jackhammer type vibrations.
where do I check for the poly or rubber bushings?
This is an 05 mainstream aftermarket build but who knows.
