Just hooked up my harley tach on my 2007 softail, has power orange ,ground black, hooked the pink to the speedo post but does not work, not sure if its in the right spot, pink plug on speedo?
What terminal is not in use? From memory it should be 5 or 6... One is the turn signal module. You could add power for the light and black for the ground then go old school and put the wire to one of the spark plugs. This is a reliable method. U can go to the ignition coil too or instead.
I use Clymers manual and it has a few good descriptions of the wiring terminals.

You need to pick up the tach signal at the connection to the computer. Do a search it has been mentioned many times over the past couple of years. If you use the pink wire in the harness by the front of the bike the tach won't work. Here's the link I found it for you. As stated some later models the wire at the speedo doesn't work
