The struggles of a night train conversion (pics) feedback is encouraged
Well I started this whole ordeal as a very satisfied owner of a chromed out fatboy. But about a year ago I had seven months of deployed time to Afghanistan to surf this forum and develop a hatred for most of the chrome on my bike. Call me a band wagon jumper if you want to but here are some pictures and lessons i learned along the way.
1. I had a completely nice bike from the beginning (IMHO)
2. Black costs more than chrome for some reason
3. High temp engine paint should only be used on the engine not on chrome parts. (HMMMMMM?)
4. Spray can truck bed liner matches night train parts very very closely but don't use as touch up for stock night train parts.
5. Sand paper is your friend. That said, too much of a friend ruins expensive chit.
6. Nobody except the owner of the bike is willing to spend an entire 96 libo on turning wrenches on said bike.
7. Finally, black is better.

I like the conversion, black looks good with the green tins. I am a black man my self that is why i went with a Fatboy lo but i do like the looks of a tricked out deluxe with black and chrome mixed together with the white wall wheels. But that is just me.
thanks guys this was definately a learning experience with everything. I'm a mechanic in the Marine Corps but when it comes to your own harley things get a little tedious.

I know what you mean about the deluxe. I want a heritage or deluxe front fender before i put a 21 on the front. And if i accomplish that i'll get white walls
I think there is a fine line between too much black or too much chrome. Having the right amount of both sets things off, IMHO... Nice paint scheme btw!! LOL!!
