Traded in a Fat boy lo with custom paint set that I paid $2,900 extra for and got $0 in return. This set was 7/200, bike got tons of compliments everywhere I went. People even rolled down windows to talk to me about the paint job........does not matter on resale or trade in value. Good luck, great looking scoot!
All you do is replace the paint set with the original the bike came with and sell it seperately so technically you do get more for your bike it's not hard to work out ....
It's irrelevant. People will buy what they like. If they like the custom paint, they'll pay for it. If they like the stock paint, they'll find that and buy it. Me, I don't want a gloss black bike, so I won't buy it regardless of price. I don't think you'll have a hard time finding a buyer, but don't add much to the price unless you did some other major upgrades.
i'm looking at a 2009 heritage softail that has a h-d custom paint job, 59 of 200. Does this add anything to the trade-in or retail value? If so, how much?

It's like buying a house with a pool...........some people hate it and some love it. Actually I've never seen a Heritage with a set of Harley Numbered painted tins. I guess if you want your bike to be unique that's one way to do it........only 200 like it. I've seen the prices of those in the HD parts book and they are usually 2K+.........I would think you could get a custom paint job for that.
