Make sure you are in neutral when you start the bike.
As you know the 07 will not even crank when it gear.
Huh?? Pull the clutch in, the starter cranks just fine on mine... I have only felt it jump (rarely) when doing this, never in neutral.. Starter did die on me @ 530 miles though...
I have an 07 Heritage and do not have a tach. Would someone tell me what the rpm's are at 60 mph? I use sixth when running 60 mph or higher and it seems to run fine, doesn't feel like it's lugging, but would like to know about what the rpm's are. I have about 2000 miles on my bike and it runs great, I love the bike. The only problem I am having is grease leaking from the steering head. Grease gets all over the back of the front fender and even runs back along the side of the gas tank. Thanks.
Hello all. I am new to the forum, and have been reading for a few days now as I try to make a decision. I am very close to buying my first Harley, more specifically asoftail. I am leaning towards a Deluxe or Fatboy, mostly because I am planning to take longer rides, and from what I hearthose twowould be more confortable. My other choice would be a Softail Standard, but the lean front tires, lack of floorboards and less confort for the road are turning me off a litle bit. Do you have any opinions? Any advice would be welcome.
One more thing, I've heard that the floorboards on the Deluxeand Fatboytend to scratch on the road on sharp turns. Does that happen often enough sothatI should worry about or is it not really an issue for concern? Any input is greatly appreciated.
I don't know about 60, but I've read that 75 is around 2850, and 70 is around 2500. I would assume 60 in 6th would be around 1900-2000. It might not be right on but it's close.

Floor boards do make for a more comfortable ride. As for dragging boards, you can. Just take it slow till you get the feel of it.

Anyone having issues with the headlight on the '07 models...specifically the FXSTC??? I understand that they are rubber mounted but wasn't the headlight on my '04 FXSTBI as well? That light was much more stable and stayed in place....this one will bounce all over and eventually work its way lower and lower even when tightened down ......complained about it and it was cranked down at last service.....now it's back to the same thing......any thoughts?????
I haven't had any problems with my Customs headlight. It does bounce around a bit when the engines at lower RPM's. But to my knowledge it hasn't changed its aim point in the 1600 miles I have put on it.
Think I might have noticed something like that, it gets dark on a lot of the roads around here and you have to be careful of the damn deer all the time.

Excellent guess! The motor turns right about 2 grand @ 60 mph.
