I need to remove the engine from my 2005 Heritage Softail and while I have a service manual, I wanted to hear from the community of anything out of the ordinary that will be required to do this. I mean, are there any specialty tools or procedure tricks that will make it easier? Thanks.
When you actually get to the removal part, I would make sure I had a big strong, AND SOBER friend to help.
Them suckers are heavy, and one little slip could mess up your whole day in a hurry.
Even if the "friend" can't help lift it out, he, or she, can still dial 911 for you.
Well, pardon me if I don't giggle, but the reason I'm pulling the engine is because the bike was hit on the primary side, bending the crank/flywheel shaft in the process.
OUCH! Dang, I was hoping it some cool custom project or something.. Very sorry to hear it. Hope noone was hurt. It sounds like you'll have definitely some extensive repair. I hope everything's ok with your frame and tranny, etc and she's back on the road healthy again soon.
Agree with taking aome pics and putting bolts , nuts etc in plastic bags and label them . Everything kinda looks the same after being apart for a month or so . Good luck man
